You are cordially invited to join our upcoming webinar on the maritime demonstrations of the MAGPIE project (sMArt Green Ports as Integrated Efficient multimodal hubs).
If you are interested in the greening of maritime transport and want to get first-hand updates and valuable lessons directly from our demo leaders, this interactive session is for you!
As part of our ongoing commitment to widely share the outcomes of our living lab demonstrations, we will dive deep into four groundbreaking initiatives designed to accelerate the transition to zero-emission shipping:
Ammonia Bunkering – Presented by Cees Boon Gain insights into the development of a port safety framework for ammonia bunkering. As the Senior Safety Advisor for the Rotterdam Port Authority, Cees will focus on the safety and operational procedures for ship-to-ship (STS) ammonia bunkering. This session will explore risk assessments, regulatory gap analyses, and the essential safety guidelines required to safely facilitate this new energy carrier in a port environment.
Autonomous Sailing – Presented by Thierry Verduijn. Discover the latest developments in our autonomous e-barge and transhipment demonstration. This segment will explore the feasibility and safety of smart, zero-emission intra-port container transport, including automated docking and inter-terminal “kiss-and-ride” operations.
Green Energy Container – Presented by Rianne de Vries / Koen van Eig Learn about the practical application of swappable, containerised energy systems for inland shipping. This session will cover the operational realities of sailing on compressed hydrogen swappable tanktainers, Li-ion batteries, or a combination of both, as well as the technical requirements for safely swapping these energy containers in a real-life port environment.
Charging Crane (formerly Charging Buoy) – Presented by Evert Hurnink Explore innovative charging solutions designed to supply clean electrical power to vessels. Originally conceptualized as an offshore charging buoy, Evert Hurnink will present the latest updates on the transition to the Charging Crane concept and its commercial viability.Webinar Details:

This event will bring together port authorities, policymakers, industry leaders, and knowledge partners to explore what we proved works in practice and how to turn ambition into action. Through concrete demonstration results, hands-on exchange, and tools like the Green Port Master Plan, our final conference will show how innovation can be embedded into long-term port strategies.
