Event Details
During this online session, demo leaders will present their demonstrators and their transferability potential to the ports (Rotterdam, HAROPA, Deltaport, and Sines) and the leaders of Work Packages 7, 8, and 9, who will lead the discussion. The key questions for the workshop are: What is the minimum requirement for a port to implement a demo? What barriers need to be considered? How does the local context affect the demo results? What does this mean for scaling up to other ports (outside of Rotterdam) or larger quantities? In what context and environment does a demo truly make sense and have an impact? Is the above specific to the demo, or does it also apply to directly competing technologies/developments?
During this session, which is the second of its kind following the one that took place in July this year, the following demonstrators will present:
– demo 2: smart energy systems (Pedro Vergara or Neda Vahabzad of TUDelft)
– demo 3: shore power peak shaving (Catherine Eeckels of TNO)
– demo 5: offshore charging buoy (Evert Han Huernink of Bluewater)
– demo 6: autonomous e-barge and transhipment (Thierry Verduijn of Port of Rotterdam)
– demo 7: green energy container (Michiel Smit or Koen van Eig of Zero Emission Services)
– demo 8: hybrid shunting locomotive ( Maurits van Schuylenburg of Port of Rotterdam)
Time
(Thursday) 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

The MAGPIE project has just over a year to go and moves toward final project delivery. The annual General Assembly meeting is an excellent opportunity to reflect together on what the project delivery requires from the partners, how this will be planned and what challenges we have. We want to ensure MAGPIE’s long-term impact on the partners and possibly future initiatives. The General Assembly will be followed by internal workshops and precedes the Port City Workshop, which will be held with local Portuguese partners, notably our host, the Port of Leixoes.

During this event, the MAGPIE Consortium will meet with the Portuguese port city ecosystem. During this day, the participants will present and discuss synergies between the MAGPIE project and local projects, the transferability of the demonstrators to the Portuguese context, and non-technological barriers that need to be overcome in the energy transition. The Port of Leixoes will host the event with local partners EDP, INESC TEC, and Port of Sines showcasing the work that is already being done in Portugal in the MAGPIE project. Subjects that will be discussed throughout the day include digitalization, multimodality and decarbonization, alternative fuels, and non-technological barriers and how to address them. The event will be wrapped up with a visit to the Port Simulator and the Coordination Center.
